Jin Shan Cheng Restaurant (金山城(八打灵)火锅川菜馆)

Posted by: Wen Ching In: Chinese Food

We are obsessed with spicy food. There’s no doubt that Szechuan style steamboat would attract us. So we went to this place opposite Sunway Pyramid for their steamboat. It was our first time visiting this outlet.

We were served with various dipping sauces which includes peanut sauce, sesame sauce, fu yu (fermented bean curd) and chili sauce. The peanut sauce was quite good.

Here’s our appetizers – Peanuts, preserved papayas and dried bean curd. The dried bean curd was quite spicy, it tasted quite good!

We had a combination steamboat of ma la (麻辣) and herbal soup base.

Imported beef slice.

Here’s our lamb slice. I find it quite difficult to differentiate both of them.

Baby cabbages.

This is our northern dumpling. Besides, we also ordered enoki mushroom, lettuce, bean curd and sea cucumber. The steamboat was quite good. A combination of spicy and herbal soup is a good choice. The beef and lamb slice were quite fresh too! A few weeks ago when we dined in this place, we got a plate of beef slice free with the purchase of a plate of beef slice. The same goes for lamb slice. It was quite worth it considering you can get 2 plates of beef or lamb slice for RM10. It was a promotion for the opening of this new outlet in Sunway.

Other than that, we also ordered 3 side dishes. The shredded pork was quite spicy, but it tasted just ok.

The sweet and sour pork were a bit disappointing. We actually hope that they can add extra ingredients such as tomato, onions or some veggie but they served only pork.

Anyway, the diced chicken cashew nut was slightly better but still not so satisfactory.

The total bill was about RM177. Overall, this place is good for their steamboat but not really for their side dishes. We’ve heard that their outlet in Jalan Pudu is better. Well, gotta try it out to find out!

I haven’t tried on peanut sauce, sesame sauce, or even fu yu before as none of them is available in Penang’s steamboat.

with peanut sauce? Issh.. I would love to try that. Have been wanting to try out ‘ma lat’ but scared it’ll be too spicy. Is it over spiced? and… I want to beef slices badly! ^^

Nic (khkl), yeah, the bf slices were quite fresh. Worth giving it a try.

Meiyen, yeah, it’s back in Sunway again. This place is quite easy to look for, so you can visit them again!

Ai Wei, not sure if they serve pork. But if you can’t beef, you can take take lamb slices. Their lamb are as good as their beef.

Jackson, yeah, I hear it calling you. Haha!

Celine, one good thing about this restaurant is that they serve different sauces which you can try according to your liking.

Christine, I don’t think it is over spicy. But even though it’s spicy, should at least try it out once, I’m quite sure you’ll like it! :)

Neko hime, haha, yeah, try this place out with your crew!

Christy, really do love spicy food. Now that you mentioned, I realised that most of them are meat! Haha! Next time we should have a more balance meal. :)
