One day while shopping in town, we came across Little Tiger, which was previously an Asian buffet restaurant known as Ivory Tiger. Their menu intrigued us and we decided to try this new place out.
The restaurant was newly opened on 15th of June last month. It is located next to Jessops on Churchill Way.
Similar to Ivory Tiger, this restaurant offers oriental buffet lunch and dinner. Other than that, they also have an extensive range of a la carte Chinese food. Interestingly, they also serve Japanese, Thai, Malaysian, Vietnamese and Korean food.
We started out with Malaysian roti with curry (马来西亚薄饼). Priced at £2.00, the starter exceeded our expectations. Both roti and curry were authentic and delicious. I liked the roti so much that I can eat it on its own!
Since Little Tiger offers a variety of dim sum, we had custard bun (奶黄包) for £2.40. The custard bun was sweet, creamy and fluffy. We enjoyed every bite of it!
For our mains, we had Cantonese roast mix with rice (粤式三烧饭). Priced at £4.80, crispy roast pork, roast duck and char siu were served with steamed white rice. Their roast duck was our favourite. The roast pork was good too, tender and flavourful. However, the char siu was slightly hard to our liking.
We also tried a main dish from their Korean selection. Priced at £3.99, the Korean fried udon with kimchi (韩国辣白菜炒乌冬) was something new to us. The dish was rather sour as it was cooked with a generous amount of kimchi. It was nice but different.
The watermelon bubble tea was quite good. The bubbles were chewy and the watermelon juice was refreshing. Our only complain was that the watermelon seeds were blended into the juice and it could be a bit annoying to keep spitting out seeds while drinking. However, we were told that they would get seedless watermelons next time.
Overall it was a pleasant dining experience for us in Little Tiger. The staff were friendly and polite too. It would be nice to drop by for an oriental meal when you are in town as the restaurant does not close for lunch break. We would definitely revisit this place!
