Most Malaysians know that Kajang is well-known for satay, however, not many know about their spicy soup, more commonly known as Lat Tong in Cantonese. We found out about this place not too long ago, and fell in love with this new found food.
Kee V is located in a rather secluded housing area in Kajang, fortunately we found the place with the help of our GPS. On the day of our visit, we arrived late, but yet the restaurant was packed with lots of customers.
Service was good and food was served very quickly despite the huge crowd. We were served with our Lat Tong very soon after we placed our order. This Spicy Soup (辣汤) was priced at RM10 per pax. Lat Tong resembles any other clear soup, however, it was spicy when eaten. The spiciness of the soup came from the use of pepper and ginger and the sweetness of the soup came from the pork, chicken, intestines and Chinese celery. We loved the soup a lot. We thought Kee V’s version was much more impressive than Restoran Siaw Kah, another restaurant well known for their Lat Tong.
We also ordered their Spicy Meat (火爆肉), simply because they were well known for that dish. Priced at RM10 per pax, the dish was amazing, the pork was very well marinated and cooked and it was delicious when eaten with white rice. Definitely something that one shouldn’t miss when visiting this restaurant!
Since we felt like having a tofu dish that day, we ordered a small Choi Po Tau Foo (菜蒲豆腐) priced at RM7.50. The tofu was nice and simple and we were satisfied with it.
Lastly, we had a Stir Fried Sweet Potato Leaves (番薯叶) just to have something green for the meal. Priced at RM7.50, the simple vegetable dish was comfort food and had a nice crunch to it.
We were very satisfied with our dining experience in Kee V and would definitely return for more, even though Kajang is quite far from our place. Other than the dishes above, Kee V is also known for their Chicken with Wine (花雕鸡) and Salted Fish with Meat (咸鱼花腩) which we will try in our future visits.
