On a short visit to Ipoh, I visited the renowned Lou Wong Restaurant for Ipoh’s famous Bean Sprouts Chicken.

Having heard about the restaurant for so many times, it was my first time visiting this place for its symbolic food. Although I arrived early for dinner, the restaurant was already packed with patrons, surprisingly many from outstation.

I ordered a portion of the Bean Sprouts Chicken. The steamed chicken was definitely delicious, one of the best I’ve had so far, and I was not exaggerating. The skin was silky smooth while the meat was tender but firm, giving it a very nice texture.

What impressed me most, however, was this plate of Bean Sprouts. This was what I called simplicity at its best. Seasoned with only pepper, soya sauce and oil, the bean sprouts looked ordinary but yet tasted fantastic, they were thicker than the ones I’ve had in Kuala Lumpur, much crunchier and juicier.

Lastly, I also had a bowl of Kuey Teow Soup to go with the chicken. I was never a fan of Kuey Teow Soup, but this bowl of flat rice noodles impressed me. It complemented the chicken and the bean sprouts very well, adding a sweet and delicious touch to the meal. I highly recommend my readers to try this out!
I was very happy with my dining experience in Lou Wong and will definitely return for more in the future!
