When we were studying in the UK, the one thing that we couldn’t find which tasted good was Bak Kut Teh. Even though there are quite a few Malaysian restaurants serving Bak Kut Teh overseas, the taste was incomparable to the Malaysian ones. And since we came back, we have been happily enjoying good Bak Kut Teh.

Yap Chuan is one of the places which we visit when we are craving for good Bak Kut Teh. Located in Puchong, we found this area rather secluded as we were not too familiar with that area.

The restaurant was very popular and crowded during dinner time. To avoid the crowd, it is advisable to arrive early at the restaurant.

Since there were only two of us, we ordered a Bak Kut Teh soup for one pax which was priced at RM10. We opted out of the pork intestines and so our bowl of soup came with pork ribs, pork belly and Fu Chuk (bean curd sheets). The soup had a strong herbal taste which we enjoyed a lot. It was so good that we requested for more soup subsequently.

On top of that, we will usually order a bowl of Tau Fu Pok (dried bean curd) for RM3 which we thought was delicious.

Yap Chuan is known for its dry Bak Kut Teh and it is something that we will definitely order when we eat there. Priced at RM11 per pax, Yap Chuan’s version is definitely one of the best dry Bak Kut Teh in Klang Valley. The pork was well caramelised and it was nicely flavoured with dark soy sauce, dried chilli, herbs and cuttlefish. It was very delicious and addictive when eaten with rice!

Priced at RM5, we also had a small plate of vegetables for the meal.
Yap Chuan definitely serves very good Bak Kut Teh and we highly recommend our readers to try this place out. For more information, do check out their website.
