Butter Tree

Posted by: Wen Ching In: Dessert

How time flies! It is December and the festive season is setting in. In conjunction with the holiday mood, we at Eat Only Lar! present to you a new cake and pastry shop in Seksyen 17, Petaling Jaya. Run by the same group that runs Food Foundry and The Huckleberry Café, Butter Tree in Seksyen 17 is a new addition to the family. We will be introducing the month-long Christmas specials than can be ordered from any of the above-mentioned shops.

Butter Tree, Selangor
Located in the same block as Food Foundry in Happy Mansion, Butter Tree offers a variety of cakes, buns and pastries for those looking to grab a quick bite.

Christmas Dessert Menu
In conjunction with the Christmas festivities, all branches of Butter Tree, The Huckleberry Café and Food Foundry will have a special Christmas dessert menu that runs from 1st December 2011 to 1st January 2012 and it is only available for pre-orders. Pictured above is the list of the items available. It is advisable to pre-order one week in advance.

Variety of cookies, Butter Tree
A variety of cookies are available to order. Starting from the top and moving to the bottom on the right of the photo: The Nutcracker (chocolate, banana and walnut cookies), Carabells (cashew caramel cookies) and Honey Gingerbread Cookies (to be sold as ‘scenery’ in Gingerbread Man’s Land). The Nutcracker cookies were chewy and they weren’t too sweet. It had a very pleasing banana flavour which we enjoyed very much. The Carabells were crunchy and had a nice balanced taste due to the sweet caramel drizzle and the salted cashews in the cookie dough. The gingerbread cookies had just the right amount of tang and were quite appetising as well!

Sugar Fairies, Butter Tree
These are the Sugar Fairies. They are soft vanilla cookies with a raspberry-white chocolate cream filling. We thought they were a bit too sweet, but we’ve been told that the issue would be looked into. With the right level of sweetness, these cookies would definitely be very enjoyable!

Dark Prince, Butter Tree
These sumptuous looking cookies are called the Dark Prince. These were our favourite cookies as we really enjoyed the pistachio flavour of the cookies. It was strong and went well with the chocolate which was not too sweet.

Jack Frost, Butter Tree
This is a chocolate hazelnut Yule log, called the Jack Frost. It was made up of chocolate-hazelnut cream, encased by a buttery vanilla sponge cake and topped with roasted almond flakes and creamy frosting. The sponge cake was very fluffy and soft and along with the excellent chocolate-hazelnut cream, it seemed as though it melted in one’s mouth in a pool of mouthwatering goodness. The roasted almonds added another dimension to the cake and topped up an already delicious cake.

All-in-all, we enjoyed all of the sweets above. We are thankful for the invite to sample the Christmas line-up. Readers are reminded that all the items are for pre-order only and can be ordered from all the outlets listed:

2.    Butter Tree, Seksyen 17
