We began day two of our trip by walking towards the centre of the city itself. However we made a detour along the way to take in some more sights.

This unique and impressive looking building is Casa Batlló. This building was designed by Gaudí and served as a family residence originally.

On our way to lunch, we stumbled across an attractive looking shop; Les Plaisirs de Marie Antoinette.

It sold macarons and other assorted sweets like chocolates and toffees.

We got ourselves a medium sized canelé for €1.50. It was soft yet chewy at the same time. We both loved this French treat.

We also bought a box of 5 macarons. The macarons were priced at €1.20 each.

The flavours we tried were coffee, pistachio, cherry and chocolate passion. The chocolate passion flavour was a mixture of chocolate and passion fruit, hence the name. We thought the pistachio was the best of the lot, but the macarons were really rather average as a whole.
Oh well, that’s it for our unplanned snack! Stay tuned for a lot more sights and our second day’s lunch!
