On the day after our last London entry, we decided to pay a visit to a lavender farm after hearing about it from some helpful Londoners.

Mayfield Lavender is an organic lavender farm located in Surrey, less than 20 miles from central London. It took us a train journey followed by a short bus ride to get to the farm itself.

It was a nice sunny day, perfect for spending some time outdoors!

Entry to the farm itself was free and anybody could just walk in to have a look around and take pictures.

We were surprised that there were quite a number of visitors and tourists around. It was a rather popular attraction, you might say!

The colour of the lavenders along with the clear sunny day made the whole farm very beautiful. It was peaceful and somewhat relaxing to just walk along the rows of lavenders while taking in the scent.

The whole farm also provided an excellent opportunity for beautiful photos. Photographers could be seen taking lots of pictures of both scenery and people.

Also on the farm was a small café/shop. It sold various lavender products along with drink and a small number of lavender-based food items.

The lavender-based food included All Butter Lavender Shortbread and Lavender Cakes amongst other things. We tried a single Lavender Cake for £0.80. It was really good! The cake was soft, moderately sweet and had a lavender flavour which we thought was really unique.
While not so much about food, we thought it would be nice to share this gem of a lavender farm with all our readers. Getting there might be confusing, but the directions are very clearly set out in Mayfield Lavender’s website and check out their blog for the latest updates on the harvest and opening times of the farm.
