After a satisfying dinner in Burgermeester, we decided to explore Amsterdam at night. From the Jordaan area, we walked back to the Dam Square, a town square where the Royal Palace, Gothic Nieuwe Kerk (New Church), Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum and the National Monument were located.

In the same area we visited Dam Square Souvenirs, an established souvenir shop selling various traditional Dutch souvenirs. Pictured above was the photo of the wooden tulips taken in the shop.

They specialised in wooden shoes. The whole ceiling was covered with them.

Other than that, they also offered t-shirts, bags, umbrellas, I Amsterdam items, jewellery and a variety of Miffy related products. It was a very modern and relaxed place to shop for gifts and souvenirs.

While walking around the area, we passed many scenic canals with countless bicycles parked around the fence.

In this photo we can see the Sint Nicolaaskerk (Church of St Nicholas) from afar. It is a Roman Catholic Church which serves the city.

After sightseeing around the city for a while, we began to crave for dessert and searched the Lonely Planet app for good eateries. We found Winkel, a café which was opened until late night, situated in Noordermarkt, around 10 minutes walk from Westerkerk and Anne Frank House.

The café has outdoor seating. It was a nice space for people-watching, coffees and small meals. The weather was not too cold to sit outside on that night, the atmosphere was tranquil and relaxing.

Winkel was very well-known for their cakey apple pie. We had a slice of the apple pie and it was heavenly delicious, possibly the best apple pie we have ever had! It was served warm, the apple filling was generous and perfectly spiced while the crust was nice and crumbly. A place definitely not to be missed if you visit Amsterdam!
