We’ve always enjoyed mamak food, so when we read about Moorthy’s Mathai Restaurant on Chris & Christine’s blog, we decided to give it a try.

Unlike most regular mamaks, Moorthy’s was very brightly lit and very clean. The inside was air-conditioned and very comfortable to be in.

We started off dinner that night with a plate of Maggi Goreng for RM4. We found the maggi goreng here to be quite good. An abundance of cili padi in and around the noodles made for a spicy and flavourful treat!

We also tried the Nasi Goreng Kampung for RM4.50. A milder taste compared to the maggi goreng, but we still enjoyed it. Again, the generous amount of chilli in the fried rice added an extra kick which we definitely approve of.

Dessert that day was a Roti Kaya, priced at RM2. With kaya on the inside and a serving of condensed milk on the side, this was definitely a winning combination. The roti was freshly made and best eaten fresh, we would come back for this roti kaya for sure! The only gripe we had was that we thought it could have had even more kaya on the inside.
A very good experience overall and a new food place on our list that we would go back to. We’ll be looking forward to try their banana leaf rice and briyani! The next time any of you are in Brickfields, be sure to pop over to Moorthy’s!
