Bella Italia

Posted by: Wen Ching In: Italian Food|United Kingdom

Finally, I’ve written out the first post in the UK, after more than 1 month of arrival in the UK. Sorry for delay of posts lately, we find it really expensive to eat out and we hardly bring our camera out because most of the time we will be carrying groceries. (Excuses) Anyway, these are some of the photos that we’ve taken last month when we first arrived, the weather was fine and the sun was shining bright.

This is Queen Street in Cardiff, the city centre of Cardiff. A very nice place for shopping and sightseeing.

Another photo of Queen Street.

This is the Cardiff Castle, which we plan to visit but yet to do so.

Guess some of you would’ve heard of this Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. Read from its official website that this stadium would be one of the Olympics Stadium in 2012. There’re quite a lot of events going on in this stadium, even though we’re not football fans, but it would be great if we get the chance to watch a football match some time later!

This photo was taken when we were walking to the restaurant, it was raining and getting cold gradually. Guess we really have to get use to this miserable weather. Anyway, this is the HSBC bank in Queen Street.

In Queen Street we can find many familiar brands that we can find in Malaysia, namely Topshop, Miss Selfridge, Zara, Principle etc.

After a cold long walk, we finally arrived at the restaurant. The place was very cozy, warm and comfortable.

There were quite a lot of customers dining there when we arrived and it was hard to believe that there were only a few staffs working in the restaurant.

No doubt it took quite some time for the food to arrive, but they were really polite, and the environment was pleasant, there was no need to rush. A nice candlelight dinner for two. :)

We ordered a soup of the day which is the cauliflower with cheese soup served with ciabatta bread for £3.75. The soup tasted really good, very creamy and cheesy, but a little too salty. Nevertheless a good start to warm our tummy.

For our main course, we had Polio Milanese for £10.95. Spaghetti Napoli was served with this crispy breadcrumb chicken breast. The spaghetti tasted rather average, a little bland to me. But the chicken made it up, it was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Quite delicious overall.

Since we have not had any prawns since we came to the UK, we decided to have a Linguine Gamberi. Linguini was served with king prawns sautéed in a spicy Italian tomato sauce, garnished with butterfly prawns. It was delicious, very appetising with the slightly spicy tomato sauce. The serving of butterfly prawns was generous and the prawns were very fresh. For £9.25, this dish was definitely worth the price.

Even though we were very full when we finished our main course, I couldn’t resist having a dessert before leaving. We ordered a Banoffee Italiano for £4.25, the combination of zabaglione cream, banana and caramel sauce tasted fantastic. It wasn’t very sweet, but very creamy and flavourful.

This is a rather good Italian restaurant to visit, service was great, so was the food and the environment. It was a very enjoyable dinner. More information about this restaurant can be found in their official website here.

Phooi Fun, haha, come here! We’ll be your tourist guides! :)

Christy, yeah, we were kinda busy preparing for the past few months. We wonder if it’s the same chain as the one in KL and Penang.

Christine, everything’s fine! Thanks! How about you? Everything alright? We’re not too sure about new year yet but hopefully we can meet up in London! :)
