Giovannis Restaurant

Posted by: Wen Ching In: Italian Food|United Kingdom

After taking more than a year off, I am back to blogging. I decided to move and rename the blog.

Giovannis Restaurant
I chose Giovannis as the first post because it was a special place to us. The restaurant was crowded on a Tuesday evening due to an event in St David’s Hall. Fortunately we booked our table in advance. We were seated as soon as we arrived at the restaurant.

Interior, Giovannis Restaurant
The restaurant was nice and cozy. During summer, you have a choice to dine outdoors too. Similar to Zero Degrees, Giovannis also has a special event menu when there are special events going on in town, which is shorter compared to the normal menu.

Mushrooms alla Mimi & Coco’, Giovannis Restaurant
For our starter, we had Mushrooms alla Mimi & Coco’ for £7.25. Mushrooms and spicy sausages sautéed in butter were cooked in cream, fresh mustard and creamy dolcelatte cheese sauce. The mushrooms were soft, creamy and delicious. We loved it!

Pasta alla Carbonara, Giovannis Restaurant
For our mains, we had a pasta alla carbonara and a pizza ortolana. Priced at £11.95, the spaghetti was served with piedmontaise sauce, roasted bacon, cream and egg yolk sauce. The pasta was excellent. It was thick and creamy and the serving was rather big. Definitely worth a try!

Pizza Ortolana, Giovannis Restaurant
On the other hand, the pizza ortolana was quite ordinary. Priced at £11.50, the pizza was topped with grilled peppers, aubergines, courgettes, tomatoes and mozzarella cheese. The crust was slightly too hard.

Overall, it is a restaurant very well worth visiting. For information about their menus and opening times, please visit their website.
