After spending some time thinking of where to celebrate ys’s birthday, we finally decided to visit this Japanese restaurant.
I guess a picture speaks a thousand words. One of the reasons we chose this place is because of its beautiful environment.
The Japanese garden was very well maintained and designed, we really like it very much.
The modern interior of the restaurant.
We decided to order a traditional full course dinner. Our set name was known as Ya (家), meaning house in English. Priced at RM160, this course includes 2 soups and 5 seasonal dishes. We started with our appetizer. We were had yam, green soybean – edamame (枝豆), nameko mushrooms (なめこ) and dried shrimps. The presentation of the dish was really pretty and a large variety of appetisers were served. It was really thoughtful of Chef Ando.
Next up, we had sashimi(刺身). The sashimi served are really fresh and delicious, they served tuna – akami (赤身), yellow tail – hamachi (はまち), red snapper – tai (鯛) and scallop – hotate (ほたて). The scallop was especially good. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
Apart from the full course dinner, we also ordered ebi mango maki (えびマンゴ巻き). Priced at RM20, this maki sushi is a combination of both mango and tempura prawn, something that we have not tried before. The combination was quite ok, but it was slightly sweet.
Nope, this is not tea but soup served in a teapot. Known as dobin mushi (土瓶むし) in Japanese, the soup tasted really good, with a taste of chicken, prawn, mushrooms and other fresh ingredients.
Next, we were served with this simple dish with radish and scallop. It looks ordinary, but it tasted superb! The scallop was so fresh and succulent with a sense of sweetness of the sauce. One of the best dishes of this course.
Then we had our second soup which was cooked with oysters, bean curd, mushrooms and vegetables. The soup tasted quite light and we enjoyed it.
Finally, this is our fifth seasonal dish – Wagyu beef. Since I don’t take beef, ys took it and he told me that the beef was really soft and tender and that it was really delicious!
To fill our stomach, in addition, we also ordered zaru soba (ざるそば) for RM20. This cold soba noodles tasted good and the serving was quite large too.
Finally, we had our dessert which is included in the course, macha ice-cream served with strawberries and cream. Sounds like a weird combination, but well, since both green tea ice-cream and strawberry are our favourite desserts, we enjoyed it!
We left the restaurant quite late. It was a quiet and peaceful place for conversation. A revisit to this restaurant would be definite. For a romantic dinner for two, this is really a suitable restaurant for it. Check out their website here for more photos of their environment and their menu. We highly recommend you to visit this restaurant!
