Again, we have to remind readers that this post was taken and written one year ago. We have checked the Sunway Pyramid directory that Genki Sushi is no longer in Pyramid, but we’re not too sure about other outle Genki Sushi is rather similar to Sushi King, it used to be one of the Japanese restaurants that I frequented about 5 years ago. Since then, there were lots of new kaiten belt Japanese restaurants, we hardly visit Genki Sushi anymore.
We bought our movie tickets and we were only left with 1 hour for dinner. Since Genki Sushi is located near the cinema, we thought of taking a quick dinner in Genki Sushi and so we popped into this restaurant.
We somehow find the environment of this restaurant cleaner and better compared to Sushi King.

We decided to go for something new in their menu and we had this Korean maki for RM4. It was quite delicious, the breaded chicken which was wrapped with sushi rice topped with sesame and kimchi tasted quite good. It was very appetising. Our only complain was that the serving of kimchi was too small. It would be tastier if they served more kimchi. We also had an inari potato salad for RM4. It was one of their recommended sushi. The potato salad filled the entire inari without the presence of sushi rice. It was quite good, but not extraordinary.
Since the cheese hotate (チーズ帆立) was also one of their recommended dishes, we decided to have one. When it was served, we regretted ordering this. It was visually unappetising and the scallops were so miserably tiny. For RM12, we could have gotten something better. The taste was disappointing as well, we tasted mayonnaise instead of cheese and the scallops were bland and dry.
Fortunately, the salmon chirashi don (鮭ちらし丼) made up the dinner. For RM13.80, we had a large bowl of vinegared rice topped with salmon sashimi, jellyfish, crab stick and egg. It was also served with a bowl of miso soup. We like the presentation of the rose-like salmon and the ingredients were fresh and delicious. Quite a good order in Genki Sushi.
We also had a kaki age udon (かきあげうどん) for RM9.80. It tasted quite good overall. But it depends on individuals whether you like tempura fried vegetables soaked in soup or served separately. If you prefer the latter, then it would be better if you request them to serve it separately so that you can still taste the crispiness of the tempura.Personally we would prefer Genki Sushi to Sushi King. Service and food were very much better than Sushi King. But yet, we will not visit Genki Sushi very often, perhaps there’re so many other Japanese restaurants around lately and our favourite kaiten belt sushi restaurant at the moment is Sushi Zanmai.
