Menya Musashi (麺屋武蔵)

Posted by: Wen Ching In: Japanese Food

As mentioned in our previous post, we returned to Eat Paradise in Isetan One Utama to try the ramen place located next to Hokkaido Gantetsu Ramen.

Interior, Menya Musashi
On a Friday evening, Menya Musashi was crowded with patrons. However, despite the crowd, the queue was rather fast and service was very fast and efficient.

Interior, Menya Musashi
We sat at the bar area as it was the fastest option to get a seat for two, and we were starving at that time.

Counter seats, Menya Musashi
While dining in the restaurant, we can hear the staff and chefs greeting the patrons and they were very enthusiastic while working, the atmosphere was lively and energetic, which was quite nice!

Interior, Menya Musashi
The table seats were mainly reserved for the larger groups. Smaller groups can also queue up for table seats, however it will take longer.

Takana Gohan, Menya Musashi
As mentioned earlier, we were really hungry on that evening and decided to order a rice dish as a side. Admittedly it was rather unusual to have rice as a side dish but the Takana Gohan (高菜ご飯) that we ordered was quite good. Priced at RM7, the salted pickled vegetable with rice was rather appetising. However, some might find the vegetable slightly salty.

Musashi Ramen, Menya Musashi
The star of the day was the Musashi Ramen (武蔵らー麺) priced at RM26. We had a choice of onion flavoured oil, special oil which comprises of fried shallots and garlic oil or home made Musashi chili oil. As spicy food lovers, we opted for the Musashi chili oil. The Ramen was served with two huge pieces of Chashu, bamboo shoots and a half boiled egg.

Musashi Ramen, Menya Musashi
At the instance when we tasted the soup of the Ramen, we knew it was going to be good. It was the best among all Ramen places we have been so far, beating Yamagoya Ramen, Hokkaido Gantetsu Ramen, Hokkaido Santouka Ramen and Marutama Ramen. Although slightly oilier than the rest, the soup was very flavourful and the noodles were very thick and springy. Their Chashu and egg were not as good as Yamagoya. However, we thought they have the best soup and ramen altogether.

Ajitaman Tsukemen, Menya Musashi
We also had a Ajitama Tsukemen (味玉つけ麺). Priced at RM25, the Tsukemen was served with two pieces of Chashu, bamboo shoots, an egg and a bowl of thick soup. The method of eating Tsukemen was similar to eating Cold Soba. Dip the Ramen into the thick soup and slurp it up from the bowl of soup. We enjoyed the Tsukemen a lot as well, and it was unique as they were the only Ramen place who offers Tsukemen.

A revisit is for sure and we highly recommend this place to all Japanese food lovers!

Fish, yeah, that’s true! Their ramen doesn’t turn soggy even towards the end of the meal. :)

The Yum List, yup, we totally agree with that! You might like to try this place out then! ^^

[…] we enjoyed the food in Marutama Ramen. Even though our best ramen choice would still be Menya Musashi, we will still revisit Marutama to try more of their delicious ramen, maybe one of the spicier ones […]
