Menya Musashi (麺屋武蔵)
Posted by: Wen Ching In: Japanese Food
As mentioned in our previous post, we returned to Eat Paradise in Isetan One Utama to try the ramen place located next to Hokkaido Gantetsu Ramen.
As mentioned earlier, we were really hungry on that evening and decided to order a rice dish as a side. Admittedly it was rather unusual to have rice as a side dish but the Takana Gohan (高菜ご飯) that we ordered was quite good. Priced at RM7, the salted pickled vegetable with rice was rather appetising. However, some might find the vegetable slightly salty.
The star of the day was the Musashi Ramen (武蔵らー麺) priced at RM26. We had a choice of onion flavoured oil, special oil which comprises of fried shallots and garlic oil or home made Musashi chili oil. As spicy food lovers, we opted for the Musashi chili oil. The Ramen was served with two huge pieces of Chashu, bamboo shoots and a half boiled egg.
At the instance when we tasted the soup of the Ramen, we knew it was going to be good. It was the best among all Ramen places we have been so far, beating Yamagoya Ramen, Hokkaido Gantetsu Ramen, Hokkaido Santouka Ramen and Marutama Ramen. Although slightly oilier than the rest, the soup was very flavourful and the noodles were very thick and springy. Their Chashu and egg were not as good as Yamagoya. However, we thought they have the best soup and ramen altogether.
We also had a Ajitama Tsukemen (味玉つけ麺). Priced at RM25, the Tsukemen was served with two pieces of Chashu, bamboo shoots, an egg and a bowl of thick soup. The method of eating Tsukemen was similar to eating Cold Soba. Dip the Ramen into the thick soup and slurp it up from the bowl of soup. We enjoyed the Tsukemen a lot as well, and it was unique as they were the only Ramen place who offers Tsukemen.
A revisit is for sure and we highly recommend this place to all Japanese food lovers!
