After knowing that this restaurant is opened in 1 Utama, without second thoughts we went straight to check this Japanese and Western fusion restaurant out. We also learned that Pasta Zanmai is part of the Rakuzen Japanese Food Chain.
This restaurant is combined with Shojikiya (正直屋), a shop selling Japanese food and snacks. We enjoyed looking around for Japanese candies and ice-creams.
Anyway, it was dinner time when we went in. The restaurant was rather packed. But we were lucky to find a comfortable semi-circle seat that day.
Service was very slow here. The waiters and waitresses seemed so busy and it took them a long while to serve our drinks. Anyway, here’s our ryokucha (緑茶) served in a pot. Priced at RM3, this pot of green tea can be shared among 2 to 3 persons.
After waiting for a long time, finally our pasta was served. Here’s our kinoko to onsen tamago no cream sauce (キノコと温泉たまごのクリームソース). Priced at RM18, this Japanese mushroom and hot spring egg cream sauce pasta was rather delicious with the light creamy sauce. After mixing the egg with the pasta, the spaghetti tasted even smoother and creamier. The black pepper boosted its overall taste. The serving was quite large too, we really enjoyed it.
Next, we ordered a curry sauce omu rice set (カレーソースのオムライスセット). For RM18, this set includes a curry sauce omu rice, a salad and a miso soup.
The Japanese curry tasted rather mild and aromatic. It tasted quite well when eaten with the egg and the rice. The rice was soft and quite flavourful too. Overall, it was quite satisfying. But the portion served was rather small.
Anyway, this salad which came with the curry sauce omu rice set tasted really good. The salad dressing was really delicious. Perhaps we should order their salad next time!
Lastly, we had our dessert. They were all too attractive to be missed. We chose to have this macha crepe (抹茶クリープ). Price at RM12, this crepe was filled with green tea ice-cream, azuki red bean and various fruits. The combination went well and the fruits served were quite fresh. The crepe was served cold and we ate that last after finishing the ice-cream and fruits.
Check this restaurant out if you’re interested in Japanese and Western fusion food. There are many different types of pasta for you to choose from. But bear in mind that service is rather slow here, so be patient while waiting for your food. Anyhow, we are rather confident that they would improve their service in the future since they’re still new.
