Sakae Sushi

Posted by: Wen Ching In: Japanese Food

Quite a backdated post actually, finally had the time to write about this restaurant. This kaiten sushi chain restaurant was originated from Singapore, it was said that they offer Japanese food at a reasonable price.

So here we are, checking this place out.

The environment was quite pleasant.

Here, computers are available at each table for us to place our orders. It was very convenient for us to place our orders especially when the waiters are busy.

We started off with a salmon cheese maki (鮭チーズ巻き) at RM5.90. The cheese went well with the salmon, we enjoyed this combination. But somehow this serving quite small and the cheese slice was quite thin.

Next, we had ni hotate sushi (煮帆立寿司) at RM5.90. This was a little disappointing as the cooked scallop tasted rather bland. I remember tasting those in Sushi King quite some time ago, it was so much better than this.

Finally, we had ebiko inari (えびっ子いなり) for RM3.90. Inari is my all time favourite, love it anyway it is. It tasted quite well topped with the ebiko but bear in mind that only 1 inari was filled with ebiko.

For our mains, we had chicken kaminabe (鳥紙鍋) at RM16.90. Served with chicken, bean curd, carrot, mushroom and vegetables, we somehow find this serving quite small. It tasted quite average overall.

Finally, we had kimchi ramen (キムチらめん) priced at RM12.90. We think that this was the best dish of all. Served with a large serving of kimchi, vegetables and noodles, it was really worth the price. The soup tasted really appetising and slightly spicy too.

Yeah, we would revisit this place again. They served a large variety of food, we wanted to try out their different food. For more information, check out the Singapore and Malaysian website on Sakae Sushi.

And last weekend, brought my bro for his birthday celebration at Sakae again (coz he loves Jap food!)
In short, went to Sakae 3 times in less than 2 weeks:p

Ling239, yeah, only 1 is filled is ebiko. The other inari is filled with sushi rice.

Christy, wow, so many celebrations! Haha! We think you really enjoyed your meal there! :)

Simon Seow, yeah, we agree with you too. We prefer Sushi Zanmai than Sakae Sushi.

Babyshannon, we’ve been to their outlet in Pyramid, somehow we think this outlet in Bangsar Village II is better.

Ai Wei, holiday is coming soon! No worries! Then you can have as much sushi as you want! :)

Daphne, we haven’t been to the Sakae Sushi in Singapore, but we do notice that their standards vary from branch to branch in Malaysia.

Teckiee, then we really should try Sakae Sushi in Singapore!

Christine, we understand why you would go for Sushi Zanmai, we like that place too! But no harm trying out Sakae Sushi. :)
