Xenri Japanese Restaurant
Posted by: Wen Ching In: Japanese Food
Though we’ve been to this restaurant many times but we still haven’t post about this yet. Anyway, it’s time to introduce you all to this fantastic Japanese restaurant.
We had a mini kaiseki set for RM68 which our food is selected and prepared by the chef. The traditional Japanese course dinner include an appetiser, a selection of sashimi, soup, baked scallops, a simmered dish, a cold noodle and finally a dessert. We started with our appetiser, they were quite good, no complaints about it. Perhaps we were too hungry that night, we even finished the natto beans that we previously don’t eat.
What we’re anticipating for when we have Japanese food have arrived finally, their sashimi was served in a very special presentation. It looks so cute, especially from behind. Anyway, what’s inside the little igloo were very fresh and delicious. We finished every thing inside including the seaweed.
Other than the mini kaiseki set, we also ordered a kinoko kame meshi aka mushroom with rice cooked in special pot for RM35. Since we have yet to try this before, we decided to give it a try. However, it wasn’t as good as we expected it to be. Even though the amount of ingredients served was generous, the rice wasn’t fragrant. But when eaten with pickles, it was better.
The dessert included in the mini kaiseki set is the mochi ice-cream. It wasn’t very sweet but very rich in flavour. The ice-cream melted slowly as you chewed the outer layer of the mochi. We enjoyed this dessert a lot.
One dessert simply just can’t satisfy me. After looking at their dessert menu, I simply can’t resist ordering this ice-cream pancake for RM13. Originally, vanilla ice-cream was served. But for an additional RM5, we requested the chef to change the vanilla ice-cream to green tea ice-cream. We were delighted when the dessert was served. The serving was large, the ice-cream tasted fantastic and the pancake was absolutely delicious! The warm and slightly crispy pancake and the green tea ice-cream made a perfect match. Do check this dessert out if you visit this restaurant!
Xenri also offers buffet lunch on every Sunday for RM50 plus per person if we’re not mistaken. We have yet to try it out but would try it out some time later. The price for this restaurant was quite reasonable and they serve quality food. Do check it out if you can!
