Sam Sam Korean Cuisine (삼삼)

Posted by: Wen Ching In: Korean Food

This post is dated back to May 2008. We were craving for Korean food when shopping in Pavilion. For a moment we were thinking of visiting Da On (나온) located on the sixth floor but gave up this thought since we were broke after shopping. Money is always a limited resource.

So we explored Food Republic on the ground floor and happily found that there is a stall offering Korean food.

As usual, Food Republic is filled with loads of people. Though it was crowded, we find the place rather clean, bright and well-maintained.

We had a dol sot bibim bap (돌솥비빔밥) at RM13.90. The hot stone rice was served with two types of side dishes and a bowl of soup. The hot stone rice tasted nice flavourful. We enjoy biting into the crispy layer of rice which touches the hot bowl. The sauce was quite good too, neither too sweet nor salty. However, it would be tastier if they added more sauce to it. Besides, the portion of the side dishes served were too small.

We also had a kimchi jigae (김치찌개) for RM12. Though not superb, it was good. They put in lots of glass noodles, which we enjoyed a lot. The glass noodles soaked up the sour and spicy kimchi soup, somewhat resembles eating kimchi noodles.

After lunch, we went for a movie in the Pavilion cinema. That was when Kung Fu Panda was on show. Anyway, it was a pleasant lunch. Would be looking forward to explore other eateries in the Food Republic since there is so much to choose from.

SimpleGirl, yeah, there are a lot of choices to choose from, interesting place to explore different food. Not too sure about other stalls though, we've only been to this one only. :)

Sean, that's a good idea! Can share among each other and try lots of different stuff.

ai wei, you didn't try any food from food republic before, but I think we had drinks from Toast Box if I'm not mistaken, after a long day of shopping. Haha! Yeah, I didn't pay much notice to the person until you told me about it.

Jean, oh, didn't know they have bulgogi as well. Glad it's good. The kimchi soup is quite spicy, love the way it is. :)

3ugene, no harm giving it a try. And there are other stalls where you can grab a bite from too!

Kai Xin, yeah, the cartoon was quite funny. Yup, Food Republic is a good choice because they offer a variety of food at a reasonable price in Pavilion. :)

For a mall food court, Pavillion's measures up nicely! Da On is good but expensive…ka-ching $$$$!! Good that you guys got your Korean fix for a portion of what you would have paid!

thenomadGourmand, wow, didn't know that they're from Singapore and they maintain the quality so well. Thanks for the information. We would definitely return to try out food from other stalls!

550ml jar of faith, haha, yeah, the food is proportionate to the price paid. Da On is good? Ok, we will save up and visit them next time! :)

Selba, haha, indulge with some good Korean food then! Would love to see you posting on Korean food in Indonesia, since we haven't been there before.

Piano_lover, we think that the price was actually proportionate to the price paid, quite worth it. Bibim bap is priced at RM13.90 and kimchi jigae at RM12. Not too sure about the rest but prices are quite affordable. Good place for food! ^^

嘉CacinG進, yeah, some Korean restaurant serves countless plates of side dishes, and refillable too. It was really an enjoyment. But for this stall located in Pavilion and at this price, we think Sam Sam is actually quite worth it too. :)

sock peng, 请问food garden在哪里?对,现在马来西亚真的有很多很好的韩国餐厅。

左撇子,对,改天如果有去pavilion逛街的话可以去food republic吃顿饭。:)

mimid3vils, yeah, food in Food Republic is more affordable compared to other restaurants in Pavilion.

foodbin, yeah, that is why we have chosen Sam Sam for lunch. ^^
