Nasi Lemak Famous
Posted by: Wen Ching In: Malaysian Food
Nasi lemak is an all-time favourite for Malaysians, but Nasi Lemak Famous at the Bangsar Selera food court is an all-time favourite for Bangsar folk who crave for some sambal-goodness at night.
The stall is located at one corner of Bangsar Selera, opposite Public Bank to be precise. Ample seating is provided around the stall but it can get rather full as well during peak dinner time and at the later part of the night.
One can choose from many accompaniments to go with the nasi lemak. Squid, chicken and kerang – you name it and you’ll most likely find it. From our experiences here, what we can say is that whatever you choose, you most likely cannot go wrong. One of us has been eating this nasi lemak for years and it has never been disappointing!
A nasi lemak biasa is only RM2.00 which by today’s (and Bangsar’s) standards, is rather cheap. The rice is fragrant, fluffy and always cooked to perfection in that the rice does not stick to one another. The sambal here is one of the main reasons why we keep going back. It is slightly sweet, yet spicy and very addictive! We could eat rice with this sambal all day long!
A very popular accompaniment is the fried chicken. The nasi lemak with fried chicken is priced at RM5.50. The fried chicken is one of their best-sellers and if one is lucky, then one could get a piece from a freshly fried batch. The chicken is crispy and very flavourful even on its own. It is no wonder why it is so popular!
Even so, special mention goes out to the sambal sotong and chicken curry, both of which are very good as well. This nasi lemak stall opens from 5pm onwards until the wee hours of the morning, and always does well to put out 3am nasi lemak cravings. Definitely and long-time favourite and we will always go back for more!
