Restoran Citra Anugerah, Tioman Island (中式美味海鲜餐室)
Posted by: Wen Ching In: Malaysian Food|Tioman Island
We woke up to a wonderful weather in Tioman one day, that was when we decided to go for a fishing trip. We joined the resort’s fishing trip and we waited at the Marine Centre for our boat to arrive.
This photo was taken from the Marine Centre. The view was fantastic, the sea was beautiful. A man was canoeing towards Renggis Island.
We hopped onto the boat after wearing our life jacket. It felt great traveling on the boat, the boat driver was speeding and it felt as though we were bouncing on the sea!
A view taken from the boat when we stopped at a place where it is suitable for fishing, the sea was quite rough according to the boat driver, it wasn’t very suitable for fishing.
Anyway, the boat driver was cutting the squids into tiny pieces which are to be used as our baits. He hooked the squid and gave the fishing line to us. He taught us some basics on how to fish but well, we didn’t manage to catch any fish in the end, shame on us! He caught 4 fishes and gave them all to us. It was really kind of him. Though we didn’t catch any fish, it was a great experience for us, it was fun!
He caught ikan kebilis and ikan angkori, he told us to bring the fishes to any restaurants and they’ll cook it for us. After the fishing trip, we took our fishes and walked to the nearest restaurant for dinner.
There were 2 choices, Restoran Citra Anugerah facing the sea and Delima Seafood Restaurant across this restaurant, will post about it soon! Anyway, we entered this restaurant without much consideration because we were starving at that time. We were given a choice to sit inside the restaurant or on the beach facing the sea.
We chose to sit inside the restaurant as it’ll be easier for us to take photos. The restaurant was clean and pleasant. There weren’t many people because it wasn’t the peak season.
For our drinks, we had a pot of Chinese tea for RM5. Our tomyam soup arrived first. It costs RM15 for a small portion. The tomyam soup wasn’t very spicy but it tasted quite good. The best thing about this soup is that the prawns were really large, juicy and fresh.
We also had a small plate of kangkung belacan for RM10. It tasted fantastic, the kangkung were crunchy and the shrimp paste tasted hot and spicy, we really like it!
Anyway, here’s the star of our day, steamed fish with Chinese pickled vegetables and bean curd. The fish tasted really fresh and flavourful, not too bland or salty. We finished every bit of it! The price for cooking this fish was RM25, the boss told us he would cook it for RM30 but we managed to get RM5 discount.
Service was average. Dining there was really expensive, RM57 for 2! But still, it was a pleasant meal, we really had a great time!
