We decided to go on a trip to Spain and Portugal since we’re having our summer holidays! To catch an early flight to Barcelona, we arrived early at London Gatwick Airport. After a three and a half hours bus ride from Cardiff, we arrived at Gatwick Airport.
There were a number of eateries in the airport after the security gate. After looking around at the menus of the restaurants, we decided to have our breakfast at Armadillo.
This fun, friendly restaurant serves southern American food with a Santa Fe twist. Instead of English breakfast, we decided to try something new. The interior of the restaurant was bright and cheerful with extra space for luggage.
We started our breakfast with a cup of Armadillo juice for £2.85. This excellent fruit juice was blended with mango juice, passion fruit juice, freshly squeezed orange juice and a dash of grenadine. It was very fruity and slightly sour, a perfect start to open up your appetite before any meals.
For our breakfast, we had maple and bacon pancakes priced at £7.25. The stack of pancakes was topped with bacon strips and whipped butter, drizzled with maple syrup. They were absolutely delicious, probably one of the best pancakes we’ve ever had. The pancakes were so buttery and fluffy, and sweet maple and savoury bacon formed a winning combination! We were so tempted to order more of their pancakes!
We also had their breakfast Tostada from their Santa Fe breakfast selection. Priced at £7.75, refried beans, chorizo, Monterey Jack cheese, tomato and green chilli salsa and fried eggs were baked on a soft tortilla. The thin crust tortilla breakfast was really tasty, it was nice and cheesy and the salsa sauce gave the dish an extra kick. Definitely something worth trying out!
