Haven Café

Posted by: Wen Ching In: Breakfasts|Western Food

Back during Christmas time we had a Christmas gathering with Chris & Christine, Lex & Wei Zhi and Ai Wei. We met for brunch at Haven Café, located on Jalan Ampang Hilir.

Interior, Haven Café
Situated off the busy Jalan Ampang, the café has its own compound where a peaceful environment can be experienced. Big glass paneling ensures that the café is brightly lit and comfortable.

Right beside the seating area is a small grocery area where one can buy various organic products.

RAW Coffee, Haven Café
We started off with drinks in the form of a Long Black, priced at RM8. Haven Café uses RAW Coffee for all their coffee beverages and the result was a quality cup of coffee for our visit!

Immune Booster, Haven Café
We also tried one of their fresh juices, a combination of guava, orange and lime, known as the Immune Booster. Priced at RM12 per glass, we thought it was a little too sour for our tastes.

Garlic Bread, Haven Café
To whet our appetite, we had some garlic bread for RM6. With a strong garlic scent and taste, these were some really good garlic bread!

French Toast, Haven Café
Since there was a number of us there that day, we ordered many items to share. First up was the French Toast, priced at RM12. The french toast was made with free range eggs and served with butter, organic jam and raw rainforest honey. It was very soft and fluffy and pleasantly sweet, best when eaten warm!

Fluffy Pancakes, Haven Café
Another gem in the fluffy category was the Fluffy Pancakes. For RM12, we got a stack of traditional pancakes served with butter, organic jam and raw rainforest honey. This was something we really enjoyed, similar to the French Toast above!

Grilled Free-Range Chicken Sandwich, Haven Café
We had the Grilled Free-Range Chicken Sandwich for RM18 as well. The sandwich consisted of warm free-range chicken, organic greens and a tangy orange dressing.

Have It Your Way, Haven Café
For a more traditional breakfast item, Haven Café has something they call “Have it your way”. Priced at RM18, one is able to choose 3 typical breakfast essentials to be served with bread. On that day, we chose to have fresh mushrooms, poached free range eggs and turkey ham. We liked the mushrooms, but thought that the turkey ham was not great.

Chicken and Mushroom Pot Pie, Haven Café
If you’re a fan of pies, then you might want to consider getting the Chicken and Mushroom Pot pie, priced at RM18. The pie was a medley of kampung chicken, mushrooms, mixed root vegetables and cream sauce in a puff pastry.

Chicken and Mushroom Pot Pie, Haven Café
We liked the pie very much and thoroughly recommend sopping up the flavourful cream sauce with the puff pastry!

Christmas Presents!
It wouldn’t be Christmas without presents, so here we go!

Cheese Cake
Adding to the festivities, we celebrated Chris’ birthday as well with a homemade Japanese Cotton Cheesecake by Ai Wei.

All-in-all, we enjoyed the food and coffee at Haven Café and most importantly, the company! For more information, visit Haven Café’s website.
