The Bridge Hotel

Posted by: Wen Ching In: Netherlands|Western Food

In the month of August, about two weeks before we left the UK back to KL, we planned a trip to Amsterdam, the capital of Netherlands, since neither of us visited Amsterdam before, and the city seemed to be attractive to us.

The Bridge Hotel, Amsterdam
Choosing accommodation might not be the easiest task. Again, we relied on TripAdvisor and this time we found The Bridge Hotel, a privately owned three stars hotel located on the Amstel River, next to the Skinny Bridge.

Skinny Bridge, Amsterdam
The hotel wasn’t hard to locate. We followed the route description on the hotel website and soon arrived at Waterlooplein by using the tram. From the tram stop, we took approximately 10 minutes to walk towards the skinny bridge (Magere Brug), which was pictured above.

Hotel room, The Bridge Hotel
The owner-managed hotel was rather small, but check-in was fast and efficient. Our room was clean and spacious, although not glamorous, it was equipped with everything essential, and free Wi-Fi was provided for throughout our stay.

Amstel Room, The Bridge Hotel
In the next few days during out stay in the hotel, we had Dutch buffet breakfast in the Amstel Room.

Buffet breakfast, The Bridge Hotel
The selection of food was rather similar to continental breakfast served in other hotels, but we preferred Bridge Hotel’s because of the quality of their food served. We loved their bread, ham, cured meat, cheese and muesli!

Breakfast, The Bridge Hotel
Pictured above was our light but nutritious and satisfying breakfast with various breads, cheese, cured meat and hard-boiled egg.

Interior, The Bridge Hotel
A collection of antiques in the corridor outside the Amstel Room.

The Bar, The Bridge Hotel
The hotel also has a bar which has a computer for customer use. This was also where we had our breakfast on the last day of our stay in Amsterdam.

Breakfast, The Bridge Hotel
Due to our early flight at about 7am, we requested breakfast to be served at 4am and it was very kind of the hotel staff to prepare a simple breakfast for us. We were served with a selection of bread, cheese and ham.

Breakfast, The Bridge Hotel
We also had muesli with yoghurt and milk, and we had a selection of coffee or tea as well. Service was exceptionally good and we were very happy with that.

Skinny Bridge, Amsterdam
A photo of the Skinny Bridge at night taken with tripod. The bridge was called the Skinny Bridge because it was very narrow.

We loved our stay at the Bridge Hotel, the room was reasonably priced and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Do note that the hotel does not have elevators and mature clients might want to request for ground floor rooms. Rooms with canal view can be requested prior your stay. Stay tuned for more upcoming posts on Amsterdam!

Ksenija: Hello, thanks for visiting our blog. Your blog is very informative and looks amazing if we were to plan a trip to Croatia! However, we think a link exchange at this time is not possible as we’d like to keep our links more towards food blogs. Sorry and good luck!

ai wei: They were very accomodating. We definitely got good service and a good hotel!

An outstanding share! I have just forwarded this onto a coworker who had been doing a little
research on this. And he in fact bought me dinner simply because I discovered it for him.
.. lol. So allow me to reword this…. Thank YOU for the meal!

! But yeah, thanx for spending the time to talk about this matter here on your blog.
